The EarthAware division of Solidcore was created as an arts education program that can be easily taught worldwide. It uses found materials, usually sticks and branches, as the basis for creating three dimensional objects employing age-old techniques such as weaving and lashing. Children and adults are first led in the gathering of useful materials, then visualizing, sketching and drawing and finally the actual making. Programs are from one to five days in length. A major component of each workshop is training the trainers so that when the EarthAware team departs the art continues.
